Congressional insanity: a dramatic proposal

The ever thoughtful author and futurist  Juan Enriquez is angry. He's throwing his weight behind a radical new constitutional amendment. If it resonates with you, forward this link. or copy the text, paste and email. Why not?   The sub-text here, at least for me, is the widespread revulsion at how dysfunctional Congress has become.  Most of us can't see how to hit back. Maybe this is one way.

Subject:  An idea whose time has come

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn't pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.

The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered...in all of its forms.  Somehow, that doesn't seem logical.  We do not have an elite that is above the law.  I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent, Liberal or Conservative or whatever.  The self-serving must stop.  This is a good way to do that.  It is an idea whose time has come.

Have each person contact a  minimum  of Twenty people on their Address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message.  This is one proposal that really should be passed around. (It's not my original idea. Just something that deserves mass support.)

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution

"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the
United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or
Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the
Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the
citizens of the United States ".

Yes, this proposed 28th Amendment is long overdue. And it's very sad that it's necessary since the Senators and Congressmen work for uS. I guess they've all forgotten because of the special interest $$ that blinds them and keeps them from doing what is moral, ethical and just plain right, for our republic. Please pass this information on and help everyone become aware of the truth. Yes, you need to do some homework and research this and all information so that you all become informed citizens.

As I get ready to send this message, it's only been viewed 930 times, let's multiply that by 10,000!! It's time to wake up and help get our republic back on the road to greatness, are you with uS??

Does this 28th amendment need Congress and Senate approval to become law? If so, I hope they can keep their laughter down to a minimum when they read the proposal.
WE NEED AN AMENDMENT THAT REVERSES THE RECENT SUPREME COURT RULING! CORPORATIONS ARE NOT PEOPLE! I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK. COME ON EVERYBODY - GET OFF THE COMPUTER AND AWAY FROM THE T.V. AND PROTEST IN THE STREETS.
You're missing the biggest perk - unlimited reelection.

We need this amendment, but we need term limits just as much. One of the reasons both sides of the political spectrum are making such bad and self-serving decisions is the desire to be in office for a very long time.

Serving should be a privilege and not a career. The founding fathers gave Congress so many days off not to go home and campaign but so they could go home and prop up their struggling businesses. These were business people who heeded the call to serve for a short period of time to their own detriment and at the peril of their businesses. Today, most in Congress have never been involved in a business and are holing up in Washington for a lifetime to take personal advantage of a very cushy career of power and control.

Any amendment changing the perks must address the perk that allows for endless siphoning off of the public dole.
